For the more adventurous, jump in for the famous high-adrenaline shark feed dive! Aqua-Trek pioneered the world-famous Beqa Lagoon shark diving, and continues to excite and amaze divers with shark encounters with numerous bull sharks, gray, white and black tip reef sharks, nurse sharks and even the occasional tiger and oceanic white tip shark.

Location
Aqua-Trek Beqa is located on the premises of the Pearl South Pacific Resort, a beautiful newly remodeled property right at the beachfront.

Accommodation
The Pearl South Pacific Resortis a sophisticated and comfortable hotel which has 78 rooms, three restaurants, an attractive pool area and lavishly decorated rooms.

Choose from a gardenview room overlooking manicured tropical gardens, an oceanview room facing the lagoon and the neighboring islands, or a penthouse suite with breath-taking views and plenty of room to relax. All rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, satellite televisions, private balconies and marble bathrooms.

Activities
Pacific Harbour is called Fiji’s "Adventure Capital" because of the many exciting possibilities to enjoy oneself. The main attractions in the area are both the great soft coral and the adrenaline-pumping shark feed diving, but the choices do not end there. You can also golf on Trent Jones designed golf course, sportfish, snorkel in the lagoon, surf world-class breaks, jetski, and - our favorite - do some excellent river rafting!

Upper Navua river rafting takes you 17 miles through a stunningly beautiful river gorge with multiple waterfalls, plenty of wildlife and lush rainforest canopy over the river’s edge. During high water levels the rafting starts at level IV and drops down to level III as the river slows down approaching the ocean. When there is less water, the river is level III or II all the way, but not any less beautiful!

Luva river rafting is done by inflatable kayaks and the river has mild class II rapids. While the river is calmer than Upper Navua, the handling of the single kayak can be a little more demanding. On your way down the river, enjoy the views of cascading waterfalls, pass villages and swimming children, and take in the incredibly green and scenic rainforest backdrop.

Diving
Enter the world of the shark, the most evolved and least understood predator in the ocean. Witness up close its strength, grace, precision and commanding presence in its own environment.

Aqua-Trek Beqa pioneered shark diving in Beqa Lagoon and now offers you an exciting and unique chance to dive with ocean’s most feared creatures. Aqua-Trek initiated the shark encounter as a way to educate divers about sharks and the problems they face. As much as 80 percent of some shark species have been wiped out in the last 10 years by fishing and consumption of shark meat and shark products. Sharks play a crucial role in the oceans ecological system and the more people know about them, the more advocates they will have in the fight for their survival. Since Aqua-Trek began offering the shark encounter, the Fijian village that holds customary fishing rights to the area has agreed to protect the site and turn it into a marine park with a small entry fee that goes back to the village.

Aqua-Trek shark encounter is one of the most exciting, rewarding, and educational experiences offered in the sport of diving. Recent shark specials on television have contributed to disproving the theory that sharks are just mindless eating machines, and people now travel the world to dive with and photograph sharks. We are offering you the opportunity to dive with these magnificent creatures. Divers can see for themselves why sharks should be more respected than feared. Repeat divers learn more about them each dive and never fail to be humbled by their presence.

The shark dive takes place on the mainland side of Beqa Passage. The dive depth is 80 feet (25 meters), and lasts about 20 minutes. Divers are not in a cage, but situated on the reef around the perimeter of the dive site.

Eco-Adventure
Aqua-Trek is committed to sustainable ecotourism and we are constantly exploring new ideas to make this commitment stronger in practice. Our success depends on maintaining a pristine natural environment both underwater and above water as well as providing local villages a way to continue their traditional Fijian lifestyle by offering income opportunities.

Our proudest achievement in Beqa has been the establishment of a marine park. After successful negotiations with the village which owns the reef, we now have an arrangement that is beneficial for both the villagers and the divers who come to enjoy the richness of the underwater environment. The reef is off limits for fishing, and the villagers receive a small levy for each person diving on the reef. The number of fish has bounced back quite significantly and the village is able to earn income from sustainable tourism.

Aqua-Trek Beqa pioneered the shark feeding dive in Beqa Lagoon in order to be able to study these magnificent creatures up close. Sharks often evoke fear, but our eight years in feeding them without a single incident shows that this fear is not justified. The feeding program has made the sharks accustomed to human presence which in turn has offered divers unparallel opportunities to observe, photograph and videotape sharks in their natural environment. The fish we feed to the sharks comes from Fiji Fish, a factory specializing in highest quality of seafood. An added benefit to the feeding program is that it keeps the factory fish scraps away from the refuse site and brings them back to the food chain. The shark encounter is only a part of the superb diving in the area; feeding also brings in a large number of other fish in the area. The regular feedings have created one of the healthiest fish stocks in the lagoon.

Groups & Conferences
If you are interested in bringing your group along, we can help you arrange a group dive. We are well equipped to take care of diverse groups and will make sure that everyone is having a great time.

Dive Sites

Aqua-Sport can accommodate some 15 divers and is one of the fastest vessels in the area. That means less time traveling and more time relaxing and having fun!
